Made to be kept.
Nordhavn began in 2014 with one oak stool and a borrowed workshop in Copenhagen's old harbour district. Twelve years later we still make things the same way — slowly, in small runs, with people we know by name.

Fewer things, better made.
Most homeware is designed for a season and priced for a landfill. We do the opposite: a deliberately small catalogue of 30 pieces, revised rather than replaced, with spare parts held for at least five years after something is discontinued.
That means no Valentine's collections, no Black Friday doorbusters, and no product we cannot repair. It also means our margins are thinner than our competitors'. We think it is the right trade.
Twelve years, one workshop at a time
A stool and a sublet
Emil Højgaard and Mette Bruun sublet 40 m² on Strandgade, built the first Vik stool, and sold 60 of them to a single café in Nørrebro.
The mill in Portugal
A chance meeting with a third-generation weaver in Guimarães led to our linen range — still made by the same family today.
Shipping beyond Europe
We opened a fulfilment partner in Long Beach so US customers could receive orders in days, not weeks, with duties paid up front.
